Do you notarize Powers Of Attorney or estate planning documents?
At this time, Cornerstone Notary Services does not handle Powers of Attorney or estate signings. We're happy to point you toward another qualified notary in the area for those types of document types.
What is your fee for wedding officiating?
Ceremony only: $300. Ceremony plus rehersal attendance: $400. Travel within 25 miles of Shelby Township is included; travel beyond that is billed at $1/mile. For destination ceremonies over 75 miles, a custom flat quote is provided, which may include lodging
Do you charge for travel to wedding ceremonies?
Yes. Travel with in 25 miles of Shelby Township is included. Beyond that, travel is billed at $1/mile round-trip. If both rehersal and ceremony require travel, mileage applies to each trip separately.
What's included in your wedding officiant service?
An initial consultation to discuss your vision, a fully customized ceremony scrpit written collaboratively with you, attendance at your rehearsal (if scheduled), performane of our ceremony, and proper filing of your marriage license with the county.
Can you give me an example of how travel fees work?
Sure! Say your ceremony venue is in Ann Arbor, about 45 miles from Shelby Township. Since the firts 25 miles are included, that leaves 20 miles beyond the free radius - billed round trip at $1/mile, which comes to $40 for the ceremony. If your rehearsal is at the same venue, that's a separate trip, so the $40 travel fee applies again -- bringing your total costs to $80 for both.
For weddings closer to home, many venues throughout Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne Counties fall within the included 25-mile radius, meaning no additional travel fee at all.
What if my ceremony start time is delayed?
A 30-minute grace period is included. Delays beyond that may incur an additional fee -- full details are outlined in your officiant agreement, provided at booking.
How far in advance should I book a wedding date?
As soon as possible, especially for peak wedding season (May - October).
What forms of ID do you accept for notarizations?
A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (drivers's license, state ID, passport, or military ID).
Do you charge a travel fee for general notary appointments?
Yes. A $25 travel fee applies with in 15 miles of Shelby Township, plus $1/mile beyond that, along with a $10 notarization fee per signature (Michigan's legal maximum).
How far in advance can I book a notary appointment?
Appointments can be booked up to 12 days in advance through our online scheduler.
Do you offer I-9 employment verification services?
Yes! Cornerstone Notary Services acts as an authorized representative for employers and remote employees needing to complete Form I-9. We will review the required documents in person and complete Section 2 accurately and promptly, so your onboardng stays on track.
